I am not smiling

This is what my cake balls looked like when I finally gave up. Please don't laugh, it's not funny!! First I couldn't find yellow candy melts so I decided to put food coloring in it, well every time I did it hardened up. So I called my neighbor, she is a caterer and she had some yellow so I tried that. Well I think I had too much frosting because every time I tried to coat my cake balls they would fall apart. So I was forced to eat about 3 or 4 just out of anger and frustration. I showed them. I think I will try again today after church. Wish me luck!

Smile Face Pops!

I found this site this morning Bakerella while working very hard at my job. These are so cute, I was thinking of making them for the first day of school. I have never seen cake pops. Hopefully I can find everything I need to make them. I have included the recipe in case any of you might be ambitious. She has a ton of yummy things on her site.

Want to make your own smiley face cake pops?

1 box cake mix (cook as directed on box for 13 X 9 cake)

1 can frosting (16 oz.)
Wax paper
Yellow candy melts (1 lb. pkg.)
Edible ink pens
After cake is cooked and cooled completely, crumble into large bowl.
Mix thoroughly with 1 can frosting. (I use the back of a large spoon, but it may be easier to use fingers to mix together. But, be warned, it will get messy. Also, you may not need the entire can of frosting, so start out by using almost the entire can and add more if you need to.)
Roll mixture into quarter size balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet. (Should make 45-50)
Melt chocolate in the microwave per directions on package. (30 sec intervals, stirring in between.)
Dip the tip of your lollipop stick in a little of the melted candy coating and insert into the cake balls. (Insert a little less than halfway.)
Place them in the freezer for a little while to firm up.
Once firm, carefully insert the cake ball into the candy coating by holding the lollipop stick and rotating until covered. Once covered remove and softly tap and rotate until the excess chocolate falls off. Don't tap too hard or the cake ball will fall off, too.
Place in a styrofoam block to dry.
Once dry, draw faces with an edible ink pen and allow ink to dry!

I found this on Ali Edwards blog today, sometimes you find the answers to your questions in the most unlikely places:
Rainer Maria Rilke :
Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart.
Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language.
Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them.
It is a question of experiencing everything. At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day.
Thanks Ali
Happy Monday!

Here is what is wrong with my foot

Heel Spurs

Definition:
The heel bone is the largest bone in the foot and absorbs the most amount of shock and pressure. A heel spur develops as an abnormal growth of the heel bone. Calcium deposits form when the plantar fascia pulls away from the heel area, causing a bony protrusion, or heel spur to develop. The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue located along the bottom surface of the foot that runs from the heel to the forefoot. Heel spurs can cause extreme pain in the rearfoot, especially while standing or walking.

I have had (3) cortizone injections in the right heal, the last one did nothing to improve the pain so i have a doctors appt on Sept. 9th to discuss surgery.

When we got back to moms, I tried my wedding dress on, it was in beautiful shape after 23 years. not yellow or anything, but it didn't quite fit like it did 23 years ago, here is the reason I won't be participating in trash the dress. Thanks for making me take it out and look at it, it really is a beautiful dress.

Thoughts from the week

I just wanted to take time to Thank everyone for your sweet thoughts and comments about Bucket.

Today is Friday and I am so glad what a crazy week.

*Samantha had 2 teeth pulled yesterday and did great, she even went to cheer practice last night!

*Took Mark to the eye doctor yesterday. He needs glasses, but insists on contacts so the doctor has him practicing touching his eye, because he can even hardly stand for drops to be put in his eye there is no way he is gonna be able to wear contacts.

*Oh and the best part, Mark realized we threw away his retainer Tuesday night. ($400.00) to replace them.

*We also had to get him a new phone, because his somehow broke. I was the one up for a new phone so I did the Mommy thing and gave him my upgrade and I will have to wait till December, but that's OK cuz that's when all the new phones come out!

People my week has not been a very good one, Fingers crossed next week is better.

Happy Friday!

Bucket

I have been putting off this post since yesterday, it's complicated story, but in the end the results are the same. I want to send a special Thank You out to Officer Chapin from Suffolk Animal Control, she was so sweet and understanding and was willing to go out of her way.

The dogs run all around, but have been real good about not going too far, well they went way down the street yesterday. Bucket was hit and one of the State grass cutters found him in the grass and called animal control. Someone had just hit him and kept on going. He had a collar, but I had not gotten there city tags yet, officer Chapin went to every house on our road trying to find the owner. Mark evidently did not hear her knock, so she took him to the vet, but his back was broken and she said he was a mess. He only weighs about 10 pounds so any kind of trauma would be bad. She had already put him down by the time I called. It was the right thing to do. We will miss him so much.

The world is a little less happy today for the Myers Family

ALL DAY CROP ALERT!!

Sorry I am so late with this. I am sending out e-mails today.

Memories from the 70's

Samantha is 8 years old and this has already started. I had them hung all over my walls.
Leif Garrett, Scott Baio and oh so many more

Samantha is into Jonas Bros. Miley Cyrus and some of the kids from Camp Rock. And of course The Cheetah Girls.

I bought Samantha two of the magazines that all these came in. The darn thing was $3.99. WoW!

Anyway, just something I thought I would share.

Happy Sunday!!!

Laundry Room Makeover

Before
After

We have lived in our house for 6 years. We had them paint everything white, because we could not decide on colors. This is the first room that has been paint (I hate painting) except for Marks which use to be orange and now is a beautiful gray. (Did I mention I hate painting Marks room too) I have highlighted the upper case living I put over the shelf. Mom if you are reading this be glad you do not have to put your wall art up on textured walls. As much as I hated painting this room (have i mentioned that already?) I hated putting this thing up even more. This thing gave me a fit, but it's up I love it and my laundry room is the beautiful color of Clear Blue Sky. I love it. I think everyone else is not quite sure yet. I just hope it doesn't look to baby blueish. I need to ask my #1 critic that I know will tell me the truth. (mom)....... I even painted the bird house my sister gave me a long time ago and out it back up on the shelf and Mitch is suppose to be picking me up a new rug.

I would love to have every room a color, bit I sure and heck ain't painting them. I would love to paint my kitchen and light Tuscany color and put tile up at the back splash.
