It's happening. Across the United States, people on college campuses, in high school cafeterias and workaday offices are working to “Spread the Word to End the Word.”

The goal: make people stop and think about their hurtful and disparaging use of the word “retard.”

What It's All AboutSpread the Word to End the Word is raising the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the R-word and encourage people to pledge to stop using it.
America is being asked to declare their support for more respectful and inclusive language, specifically that referring to those with intellectual disabilities.

"The earlier we can start teaching this awareness, the easier it will be to reverse the language, " wrote James Saetern of Sacramento, California, in an e-mail to Special Olympics. "This is not just a day of awareness, but a movement to end hate as a whole."

What's Going On TodayAs of this morning, Special Olympics has heard of more than 700 events and activities happening throughout the United States – and around the world. They range from tables set up in malls, to grade-school assemblies on differences to all-day kiosks and movies at college campuses. The commitment and creativity are growing.

State ProclamationsThree U.S. states -- California, Iowa and Oklahoma--have made official proclamations about Spread the Word to End the Word day.

I did a scrapbook at SDV of all my favorite pictures from 2008? Here are a few of the pages, some are pretty simple, but I got it done and am very happy with it. I really need to work on my photography skills, the page colors are alot more vibrant than they photographed. Enjoy and Happy Monday!

SDV Projects

Here are the projects, not including the album I finished (20 pages)
Shown here are left to right back to front:

*Card box I made for my sister-in-law for her birthday

*The board book box Judi gave us all it holds 3 books, and Judi has already done one to get us started, we just had to decorate the box with the paper she provided shown right next to it the green thing. Thanks Judi

* Front row that is a little coaster album I made (I copied the CM lady she had used CD's of course I didn't have any so I used coasters for this one.

*The next thing is a little heart thingy I bought at Michael's for a dollar and decorated it for my nieces birthday. I used chipboard paisleys and made wings and put her initial on one side and her boyfriends on the other. It came out really cute, I think she liked it.

I told them I felt sorry for anyone who has a birthday after SDV because they always get handmade stuff.

* The next is the coaster note holder idea that Chris shared with us. We all stole it and made our own versions. Thanks Chris

Hope to get some of my pages posted today, I need to take pictures, hopefully it won't be raining today and I can get some good ones.

(Back view of the note holder & front view) kinda blurry sorry

OH and the monkey hanging off the side of note holder is one of the many monkeys Lisa made, they were so adorable, the squiggly eyes really made them super cute. I hope Lisa's daughter will appreciate all the hard work her mom put into making those. Lisa will have to post the final invites all made up.

Happy Saturday!

The fun began at AC Moore, for some reason we needed these hats, they are being reused by Lisa shown here in the middle for her daughters birthday party. Here is the whole group. My favorite was Deb's Duck with the glasses!
Amanda and I getting ready to eat at the Melting Pot. We have such a good time here. Pay no attention to the beers in front of us! LOL(that's why we are smiling)
Mason came to visit us! He is so cute. A special shout out to Charlie for entertaining him while we kidnapped Mandy to the scrap room!
The dunce cap was one of the hats we bought at AC Moore. I am not sure who got to wear it first, but every time you said or did something Duncey you had to wear the hat and but your Infarction on the hat! (Infarction is mom's word) I wore it twice! I will not share my Infarctions with you, they are secret! Sandy shown here with the hat on!
OLF with the hat on!
Chris added some embellishments!
These two young ladies sat next to us (lucky them LOL)

She looked Beautiful and remembered her vows! Am am very proud of this young lady, I have had the pleasure of watching her grow up to a very Responsible and Fantastic young woman.

Yes, he really did shove cake in here face!

Thank goodness Judi was there, I don't know what I would have done without her help.

I haven't had much time to share, very busy weekend. Thought I'd post really quick.
First up is a picture of the Major player with the location details!
I had such a Fantastic time meeting all of you and getting to know you a little better, here is our Fantastic waitress Miranda, she is a very good friend of Marks, I thought she did a Fantastic job, especially since she had already worked that day and came back just to take care of us.

Here is the funny shot my camera took, I love the one Mandy has as her header, E-mail me some of your shots for my book, OH and by the way, do you like my catchy title?? LOL
We had a competition on Williamsburg yesterday, so Aunt Judi came along for support. Samantha kept goofing off every time I took a picture. The competition is 2 day so we not sure how they did, but it looked pretty good from where I was sitting LOL!

And today at the chiming of the 11 hour this little Sweetie will become
MRS. JUNIOR MUNFORD!!
I love her so much and am so proud of everything she has accomplished in her life.

Shell recommended I try Chantix, I am checking that one out and some other very good advice. Trying to decide when my stop date will be. Just wanted to share, I need support without nagging!
